This policy explains what personal data The Protocol collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The Protocol is a trading name of Miles Mark Austin, a sole trader in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller. Our registration reference is available on request.
We collect personal data when you choose to give it to us. We do not run any advertising or analytics tracking on this website.
Information you give us through a form. This website has five forms: the homepage signup, the community signup, the 7 Pillars download, the client intake form, and the AI consultancy intake form. Depending on which one you use, we collect:
Information stored in your browser. This site sets no cookies. It stores a small number of values in your browser's own storage, described in our Cookie Policy. These record your choice on the site notice and whether you have already seen the intro animation. They do not identify you and they are not sent to us.
Your IP address. Like any website, ours cannot load in your browser without your device connecting to the servers that hold its images, fonts, code libraries and bot-protection check. Those providers are listed below.
We previously ran an "Ask Miles" chat widget on the site. It asked questions and passed your answers on to us as an enquiry. It did not use AI or any language model. It is not currently on the site, but enquiries it collected are still held by us, and everything in this policy applies to them.

These five receive your IP address when your browser requests something from them, because that is how the web works. None of them sets a cookie on this site.
We may also share your data where the law requires it, for example with HMRC or in response to a lawful request.
We keep enquiry and customer records for as long as we need them for the purpose you gave them to us, and no automated deletion runs on a fixed timetable. Financial records are kept for 6 years, because UK law requires it.
If you want your data deleted, email inbox@milesmarkaustin.uk and we will delete it, except for anything we are legally required to keep.
Everything you send through this website is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The server is hosted in the United Kingdom and access to it is restricted. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and are never stored by us.
